ABA in Schools/ The Role of a School Shadow/ LSA

Jason Garner is a Behavior Analyst working for the Center for Autism Related Disorders, Inc. (C.A.R.D.). He has worked in the field of ABA for 15 years. He completed a B.A. and M.A. in psychology. During the last 15 years, he has provided in-home supervision and has taught parents and therapists how to deliver ABA programs that have been specifically designed for each child. In addition to designing behaviour support ABA programs, he provides workshops on challenging behaviours, and teaches staff teams how to implement behavior support programs.

Peter Farag is a Case Manager for the Center for Autism Related Disorders. For 8 years he has worked in the field of ABA providing intensive home based therapy and school shadow training and implementation. He has taught teachers and LSAs how to apply functionally and socially appropriate behaviors in the school setting.

Abstract

This ABA workshop aims to assist parents, school shadows, learning support assistants, therapists, and teachers in understanding the purpose of a school placement for a child with an autism spectrum disorder. The role of a school shadow and learning support assistant in a mainstream school will also be explained.
